In our recent webinar, Creating Engaging Content in a Virtual World, we got an overwhelming number of recommendations for virtual training strategies from the audience that we want to share with you! With in-person training an impossibility at the moment, here are 11 ideas to consider for your upcoming on-demand content:

On-Demand Training Tips

  1. Tell a story: script your content in advance and try to evoke emotion
  2. Uses quizzes to encourage the learner to interact and to test for understanding
  3. Consider using on-screen text and background music as an alternative to voiceovers
  4. Start and end each video consistently, with branding and music
  5. Use animation and animated videos
  6. Share speakers’ faces alongside visuals, especially if using voiceovers
  7. Invest in a decent USB microphone to improve audio quality
  8. Avoid “sage on the stage” speak – maintain a conversational tone
  9. Stay focused and don’t try to cram too much into one less
  10. Reduce background noise by finding a quiet space to record and using pillows or blankets to decrease echoes
  11. Invest in a good content authoring tools like Articulate Rise and Storyline
